Full Frame Window & Door Replacement
The full frame replacement is the most common windows and doors replacement style. Your existing wood or pvc window is completely removed; frame, exterior brickmould and the interior casings. The rough opening (stud to stud) is now exposed removing any old insulation and replacing any rotton wood. The new full frame window and or door is manufactured with an exterior brickmould to match your existing exterior brickmould size. The window and or door is lifted in place from the exterior and the frame is secured and the rough opening is foamed to the new window or door. The new replacement windows and doors will include a jamb extension to meet your wall thickness. The finish includes the interior casings. (Trim surrounding the window or door inside). All door are replaced as a full frame replacement.

The existing old window frame completely removed provides the advantage of the new unit being properly air sealed and insulated to the rough opening. The full frame unit is now a low maintenance product. No more painting or worrying about air leaking and water penetration.

Box Unit Window Replacement
The window box unit replacement is a common replacement/installation styles for older homes to preserve the character. The box unit replacement consists of NOT removing the existing frame, exterior brickmould and the interior casings, stool and apron. The new window is made to fit inside the existing frame maintaining the interior and exterior wood work. The box units are installed from the interior outward. The new window is insulated and air sealed to the existing frame. The finish includes a new interior vinyl stop around the interior perimeter. The existing exterior frame would still require maintenance.

AWD Specialists’ personnel execute the following steps during our replacement WINDOWS AND DOORS installation service in Winnipeg:
- Bring material as per agreement
- Provide tarps
- Install products
- Clean work area, vacuum if necessary
- Dispose of old products unless notified otherwise
- Review final check with customer
Customers responsibilities prepping for the Installation
Having a new Winnipeg replacement windows and doors installed? Follow these steps on how to prep your home for AWD Specialists’ visit:
- If necessary, make arrangements with your alarm company for disconnection and reconnection of your alarm service
- Remove interior drapes and or blinds prior to our arrival
- Door installation; Make sure you have the new lock and deadbolt for installation by AWD-we use to supply but there’s so many options now
- Move furniture away from install area for maximum work space
- Notify installation personnel of fragile items, e.g. recently painted rooms, plants, flower beds, etc.
- Move smaller items away from work space and cover larger items (although in our best efforts to keep the installation area clean, a bit of wind with no window in place and a gust of wind can create a bit of dust)
